Indonesia, and have used serological methods, specifically sero-archeological
methods in order to identify the history of transmission for this virus. It was
shown that for three main clades of this virus, unique clades of this virus
developed in Indonesia, Thailand, Europe and America during the 1970s and
1980s. Thirty two sequences of
HIV-1B genes were identified, sequenced, and cross-referenced to a database
containing strains of viruses similar to the HIV-1B strain.
