Risk of getting West Nile virus, which is transmitted to humans via mosquitoes that have bitten infected birds, rises as you spend more time outdoors. In a new study, it was found that incidence of West Nile infection in the homeless was higher than that in the general population - 1 in 14 compared to 1 in 22, respectively.
This suggests that perhaps bug repellent should be distributed to the homeless in order to prevent infection with the virus.
Another interesting (and by interesting, I mean very interesting) finding is that smoking marijuana was found to be a predictor of West Nile infection. So don't smoke.
