Infectious disease epidemiologists encountered an incredible challenge in 2014 as they were faced with assessing the largest Ebola outbreak in history. New cases have been reported since the last health report provided on September 28th, 2019. These cases were reported in Mambasa and Butembo of the Ituri and North Kivu districts. Necessary precautions have been taken by "community actors" such as informing community members of safe burial practices, vaccination, and follow-up contact information. The total amount of reported cases in which health officials have been notified of include 80 cases with 3 probable cases, 69 confirmed cases, and 21 deaths. Overall 230,055 people have been vaccinated, and other preventative efforts continue to be taken.
