In the 1960s scientists found out about feline leukemia virus, which first showed them that viruses can cause cancer. This knowledge enabled them to come up with drugs for cancer. Also, cats are the only animals other than humans to suffer from an immunodeficiency virus. Instead of HIV, they have FIV, feline immunodeficiency virus. We have a lot to learn from cats!
